ALHAMBRA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TomatoBank, N.A. today announced the opening of its first San Diego County branch. On Saturday, September 8th, TomatoBank unveiled its Chula Vista branch at a standing room only crowd of dignitaries, community leaders, local businesses and neighbors.
Remaining true to its multi-ethnic roots, TomatoBank’s newest branch is located in the El Tigre Supermarket, a leading Hispanic foods supermarket chain. The new branch will focus on serving the needs of the local Hispanic business and consumer community – particularly the underbanked immigrant market.
“TomatoBank is extremely excited about its entry into the San Diego market. As the leading ethnic bank in Los Angeles, we look forward to becoming Southern California’s leading ethnic bank. We take pride in continually meeting our goals over the years and we are excited about our future in San Diego County,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stephen Liu. “The new branch brings needed financial services to the underserved Hispanic community.”
With total assets at nearly $450 million, TomatoBank’s growth rate has consistently surpassed 35% per year and net income has increased more than 50% per year. For calendar year 2006, TomatoBank’s return on assets was rated 58th among all California banks. This was an improvement from 182nd in 2005.
“With our productive multi-ethnic niche, strong capital, quality assets and talented human capital, TomatoBank has positioned itself to succeed in San Diego,” said Dr. Liu.
