ALHAMBRA, California -- TomatoBank, N.A. today proudly announced its participation in the Urban Education Partnership (UEP). UEP focuses on aiding and transforming high-poverty, multicultural schools across Los Angeles County through academic achievement. Through the Career Academies Program students gain higher levels of academic achievement through exposure to business and industry-related knowledge and practices. UEP also provides paid summer internships to provide students with real life experiences in today’s working world.
Through summer internships, students are given the opportunity to experience various professions and receive the kind of attention and credibility they truly deserve. Internships are a strong motivational factor to students because they know that more doors will open for those who take control of their futures.
“TomatoBank is thrilled to participate in the UEP internship program. I feel our organization will provide our interns with an invaluable experience. I also strongly believe that our employees will equally grow from the experience,” said TomatoBank Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stephen Liu.
“TomatoBank prides itself in being involved with such a profound youth program. As Los Angeles’ leading multiethnic small business bank, TomatoBank shares with UEP some common ground. Participating in UEP’s internship program is a perfect fit.
“In these high-poverty areas, very few students receive the education that others may take for granted. TomatoBank is committed to doing its part to ensure that every student has the same opportunities through education regardless of where they live or how much money their families have,” said Dr. Stephen Liu.
