It's always a good idea to get a receipt. It will help you balance your checkbook. Your receipt is also proof that you made a deposit if there are any problems later on. It's important to note that the available balance printed on your receipt may not represent your actual balance. Some banks do not reflect the ATM deposit on the receipt until the deposit is physically processed by the bank.
If you have trouble using the ATM at your bank, don't hesitate to ask someone at the bank for help. In fact, it's just a good idea to have someone from the bank help you the first time you use an ATM. The thing to remember about ATMs is to keep your PIN number secret. It's important to protect your account in that way.
